About Emily Porter
Coming from a family of Scottish Country dancers, Emily has been dancing since she was a child. She grew up attending the Newtonbrook children’s class in Toronto under the instruction of Betty Thompson. Upon moving to Ottawa, Emily was active with both the Ardbrae Dancers of Ottawa and the RSCDS Ottawa Branch, also performing on their demonstration team. Emily completed both levels of teaching qualification in St Andrews, obtaining her full certificate in 2025. Besides teaching with Ardbrae, Emily also teaches the Ottawa Branch’s level 2/3 class and leads their demonstrations.
